Beautiful capture of this old Mission Church, Lynn! So many lovely shades of white and blue. It's heavenly. L/F

Thank you so much, Catherine.

Artist's Description

Mission La Bahia by Lynn Sprowl
Actual name is Mission Nuestra Senora Del Espiritu Santo de Zuniga.
Mission La Bahia moved in 1749 to its present site in Goliad, Texas on the San Antonio River. The mission and its fortress, Presidio La Bahia, were strategically located on opposite banks of the river to protect the Camino La Bahia, a major Spanish trade route to the north and east.
Mission Nuestra Señora del Espíritu Santo de Zúñiga, also known as Aranama Mission or Mission La Bahia, was a Roman Catholic mission established by Spain in 1722 in the Viceroyality of New Spain—to convert native Karankawa Indians to Christianity. Together with its nearby military fortress, Presidio La Bahia, the mission upheld Spanish territorial claims in the New World against encroachment from France. The third and final location near Goliad, Texas is maintained now as part of Goliad State Park and Historic Site.

About Lynn Sprowl

Lynn Sprowl

For me, photography is about what I "feel" when I see an image. I want my photo to capture…a mood, an emotion, a story. I have a wide range of subjects that I like to photograph but tend to look at the ordinary. Like most photographers, I love nature and the splendid array of opportunities and subjects provided. I find the “abandoned” is a constant source of intrigue and make for interesting photography. I find beauty and mystery in the ordinary. Shooting in RAW format is a key element in my post-processing. The additional steps allow me to edit exposure, contrast, color and brightness without any reduction of quality. I often continue the editing process, as needed, to produce the final image I want to share. I honestly love...
