Description
5-11-11 A girlfriend and I drove to the University Arkansas to listen to lectures by HH The 14th Dalai Lama. Another speaker there, was Sister Helen Prejean. (Dead Man Walking) The Dalai Lama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. The Dalai Lama was a cheerful man. He would tell stories and then just laugh and laugh. Not all stories could be understood, but everyone would laugh with him. His laughter was infectious.
“Nonviolence in the New Century: The Way Forward”
His Holiness the14th Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. Widely respected for his commitment to nonviolence and to the cause of Freedom.
The Peoples Republic of China annexed Tibet in 1959. The Dalai Lama escaped to India, where he continues to live in exile while remaining the spiritual leader of Tibet.
One last thing to mention was the security. Police dogs searched the building for any explosives before we could come back in after lunch.
