Description
Meeker Lodge by Lynn Sprowl
Now this is what I think of when talking about a Colorado lodge. This is the main building and it is in Allenspark, Colorado.
Meeker Park Lodge was built by O.L. and Crete Dever in the late 1920s. It was operated by the Dever family continuously as a summer resort. The 13,911-foot Mount Meeker can be seen from the porch. The knotty pine structures, built by hand, have stood for nearly a century. They were built by the family of the three sisters, Laura Dever, Bonnie Dever and Patty Dever-Cavaleri, In the thirties, 19 rustic wooden cabins were built for more guests. I stayed in one of the rustic cabins, when I was very young. My parents and grand parents slept inside. I slept on a bed on a screened in porch...I survived.
