Purple Pond Lily. Pond lilies were in full bloom when I was there. This purple one just stood out... I think that water lilies are so beautiful and calming.
The lotus flower is a beautiful flower that can be found all over the world. The start of this flowers life is not as beautiful as one might imagine. Unlike most flowers, when the lotus first begins to sprout, it is under water. Its home is in lakes and ponds where the water remains fairly still on the surface. Beneath the surface, the lotus is surrounded by mud, muck, fish and insects. I have heard that the more muck, the more beautiful the lotus will be.
